University of Luxembourg Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Luxembourg, founded in 2003, is the country's public university, with its main campus at Belval in Esch-sur-Alzette and teaching in English, French and German. It charges international students no separate tuition: most programmes cost EUR 400 a semester, and a few specialised masters up to EUR 2,500. Applications for 2027-28 open on 1 February 2027, and in 2026 the non-EU window closed on 24 March.

English test waiver

The University of Luxembourg sets language requirements per programme using CEFR levels, for each of its teaching languages, and publishes no university-wide IELTS or TOEFL score. English-taught masters such as Data Science ask for English at B2, and the Bachelor in Computer Science asks for a B2 English certificate. Accepted English tests are TOEFL iBT, TOEFL Essentials, IELTS Academic and the Cambridge B1 Preliminary, B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency; tests not on the list, such as Duolingo, are not accepted. A certificate must be less than two years old and assess all four skills. A previous diploma taught in one of the programme's languages can serve as proof, but non-EU applicants must present a completed diploma or certificate of completion. The Master in Wealth Management, for example, gives TOEFL iBT 87 or IELTS 5.5 to 6.5 as B2 equivalents.
