Bachelor
Academic entry requirements are set per programme. The general English requirement under NZQA's sector-wide rule is IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5; some programmes, including nursing, set a higher score.
Documents
Certified copies of the applicant's passport or birth certificate, original or certified tertiary transcripts and certificates, and, depending on the programme, a statement of purpose, CV, portfolio or research proposal.

- Decide what to study using Unitec's international prospectus.
- Check entry requirements for the chosen programme.
- Apply online or through a registered agent.
- Provide certified transcripts and other required documents.
- Receive an Offer of Place.
- Pay tuition fees.
- Apply for a student visa and insurance.
- Prepare to travel and enrol before the semester begins.
English test waiver
Completing Unitec's New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Academic) Level 4 lets a student move into any Unitec programme that requires IELTS 6.0. Applicants without IELTS or another qualification can instead sit Unitec's own English Language Placement Test.
