Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) is a private university in Beppu, Oita Prefecture, built from the ground up as a bilingual, majority-international campus. APU charges JPY 200,000 as a one-time admission fee. Tuition for domestic and international students is the same: JPY 1,455,000 across the first year's two semesters, then JPY 1,655,000 a year from the second through fourth year, before any scholarship reduction. APU offers tuition reduction scholarships of 30 to 100 percent of first-semester tuition to a share of incoming students based on the admission review; the figures here are the full, unreduced rate. The application fee is JPY 11,250 (JPY 10,000 screening plus JPY 1,250 administrative), paid by bank transfer to a designated account in Japan.
