Requirements

Bachelor

• Bachelor's and specialist's programmes: an entrance examination in the form of an interview in Russian or English, depending on the language of instruction, and an evaluation of the applicant's portfolio.
• Minimum score for entrance examinations: 30 out of 100.
• Education certificate with transcript, legalised or apostilled where required, with a notarised Russian translation.
• Full-time (in-person) study only for the additional admission round.

Master

• A document of previous education issued by a foreign educational institution (education obtained outside Russia) for the additional admission round.
• Admission by portfolio competition in 2026, with a minimum portfolio score of 30 points and a maximum of 100.
• The portfolio can include grade point average, individual achievements, a motivation letter, academic and professional achievements, recommendation letters and a language proficiency certificate.
• Full-time (in-person) study.

Documents

• Scanned previous education certificate with academic transcript, with notarised Russian translation if required.
• Apostille or legalisation of the education certificate and transcript, if required.
• Foreign passport with notarised Russian translation, valid for at least 18 months from admission.
• Copies of portfolio documents (achievements, recommendations, certificates, diplomas) for the last 2 years.
• Certificate of Russian language proficiency at level B1 or higher (TORFL-1), if available.
• General medical certificate and HIV/AIDS medical certificate, each valid for no more than 12 months, with notarised Russian translation if required.
• Parent's passport and the applicant's birth certificate, if under 18 on September 1, 2026.
• Migration card, registration and visa copies, if already in Russia.
• One 3x4 cm photo.

How to apply

1. Choose a programme on the International Admissions site.
2. Submit documents through the International Applicant Personal Account (ab.rudn.ru), in person in Moscow, or by email (additional round: September 7 to October 2, 2026, until 18:00 Moscow time).
3. Take the entrance examination or portfolio evaluation (until October 9 in the additional round). For English-medium programmes the interview is in English.
4. Receive the admission decision and sign the tuition agreement (enrolment by October 16 in the additional round).
5. Pay tuition. The study invitation is issued after payment and the enrolment order, and takes at least 30 calendar days.
6. Apply for a student visa at a Russian embassy or consulate using the invitation.

English test waiver

RUDN publishes no IELTS or TOEFL minimum. For English-medium programmes the English rule is an entrance examination in English, held as an interview using remote technologies. RUDN states that in 2026 foreign citizens are admitted to bachelor's, specialist's and master's programmes through an interview (in Russian or English) together with an evaluation of the portfolio the applicant submits. The minimum score for the entrance examinations is 30 out of 100. Master's applicants can add a certificate of foreign or Russian language proficiency to the portfolio, but the page does not name a required test or score.
