Requirements
Bachelor
Requirements are grouped by programme area rather than a single university-wide list. Business Studies and Economics programmes require a credit (grade 6) or better in English Language and Mathematics, plus a credit or better in any other three subjects, from the Zambian School Certificate, General School Certificate of Education, or Cambridge International Examinations. Natural science, engineering, technology and agriculture programmes require a credit or better in English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Agriculture Science, and a physical science (or Physics and Chemistry for applicants who took pure sciences), plus two other subject credits. Social Sciences and Arts programmes require a credit in English Language plus four other subject credits. The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) has a separate O level pre-medicine entry route (five O level credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and Science or the pure sciences, followed by one year of Foundation Sciences) and an A level or graduate direct-entry route into second year.
Master
The website's general entry requirements page does not set out separate postgraduate academic requirements; postgraduate applicants use the 2026-2027 Postgraduate Online Application Form, which is programme-specific in its supporting-document requirements.
Documents
Certified copies of academic certificates or statements of results; a bank deposit slip or receipt from the Bursar's office showing payment of the non-refundable application fee; a National Registration Card (NRC) or equivalent identification for Zambian applicants, or the equivalent for foreign applicants.
How to apply
- Choose to apply online through the Student Information System portal, or obtain a paper application form from the Academic Office, the university website, the Town Campus, or a Learning Centre in Choma or Ndola.
- Pay the non-refundable application fee (K150 for Zambian applicants, USD 50 for non-Zambian applicants) into the university's ZANACO account.
- Submit the completed form with certified copies of certificates or statements of results and proof of payment to the Academic Office (or, for the online postgraduate form, to the Assistant Manager, Admissions) before the closing date stated in the relevant advertisement or form.
- Await an admission decision; applicants who received an offer in a previous intake but did not report must submit a fresh application rather than reuse the old admission letter.
English test waiver
The university does not publish an IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Duolingo minimum for international applicants. Its published entry requirement, stated the same way for all applicants regardless of nationality, is a credit (grade 6) or better in English Language in the Zambian School Certificate, General School Certificate of Education, or Cambridge International Examinations (or the equivalent for medicine applicants at O level), alongside subject-specific credits that vary by programme group.
