Kiel charges no tuition fee to EU or non-EU students; the fee policy applies equally regardless of nationality. All students pay a semester contribution, which the university's International Center states at EUR 403 for the winter semester of 2026/27, covering student services, social contributions and free regional public transport. A separate one-time enrolment fee of EUR 55 applies when a student enrols for the first time.
Applying through uni-assist is not free. uni-assist charges a handling fee of EUR 75 for the first application in a semester and EUR 30 for each further application in the same semester. The fee is not refunded whatever the outcome, and some universities cover it for their applicants.
