Requirements
Bachelor's
A higher education entrance qualification recognised as equivalent to the Abitur is required.
Master's
A relevant Bachelor's degree is required, with a full transcript showing course content and credit weight. Applicants from some countries, including China, Vietnam and India, need an APS certificate confirming their academic background before KIT will consider the application.
Documents
Bachelor's degree certificate in the original language with an official translation; a transcript of records including course content and scope; a module handbook or detailed course descriptions where requested; a language certificate for the language of instruction; and an APS certificate for applicants from China, Vietnam and India.
How to apply
- Check your specific programme's admission requirements and confirm your degree is recognised as equivalent.
- Arrange an APS certificate in advance if you are applying from China, Vietnam or India, since this can take time.
- Prepare certified, translated copies of your degree, transcript and language certificate.
- Submit your application by 15 July for the winter semester or 15 January for the summer semester.
- Expect a decision within about four weeks of the deadline.
- If admitted, pay the tuition fee if it applies to you, arrange health insurance, apply for a student visa if coming from outside the EU/EEA, and enrol in Karlsruhe.
English test waiver
KIT asks for an IELTS overall score of at least 6.5 with no individual section below 5.5, or a TOEFL iBT score of 90 or higher; Cambridge CAE or CPE certificates are also accepted. Requirements can vary for specific programmes.
