Requirements
Bachelor's degree
A-levels, the International Baccalaureate or another equivalent qualification at the level the specific course states, an admissions test where the course requires one (UCAT for Medicine; ESAT or TMUA for some mathematics, science and engineering courses), and English language ability at the course's stated Standard or Higher level (Higher level: IELTS 7.0/6.5, TOEFL 100/22, PTE 69/62, Duolingo 125/115).
Documents
UCAS application and personal statement, academic reference, transcripts and predicted or achieved grades, admissions test registration and result where required, English language test certificate taken within 2 years of the course start date, passport for identity and later for the Student visa.
How to apply
- Register with UCAS and choose Imperial as one of up to five choices.
- Register for and sit any required admissions test (UCAT, ESAT or TMUA) by its own deadline.
- Submit the UCAS application by 18:00 UK time on 15 October 2026 for Medicine, or by 18:00 UK time on 13 January 2027 for every other course, for 2027 entry.
- Attend an interview if the department invites one.
- Receive a decision through UCAS Track; accept a firm and, where eligible, an insurance choice.
- Meet the offer conditions, including final grades and the English language requirement.
- Apply for the Student visa once the place is confirmed unconditionally.
English test waiver
Imperial's Higher level (IELTS 7.0 overall, minimum 6.5 in each element; TOEFL iBT 100, minimum 22 each; PTE Academic 69, minimum 62 each; Duolingo 125, minimum 115 in any integrated subscore) applies to most courses. A lower Standard level (IELTS 6.5/6.0, TOEFL 92/20, PTE 62/56, Duolingo 115/105) applies to some courses; check the specific course page.
