ETH Zurich Tuition Fees 2027 for International Students

ETH Zurich is Switzerland's federal institute of technology in Zurich, teaching bachelor's degrees mainly in German and most master's degrees in English. Non-Swiss bachelor applicants go through an entrance-examination system that depends on their school certificate, while master applicants apply directly to a specific programme; since autumn 2025 foreign students who do not qualify for the lower fee group pay close to three times the standard tuition.

Since the autumn semester of 2025, ETH Zurich charges two different tuition groups. Group 1, the simple fee of CHF 730 a semester, applies to Swiss and Liechtenstein citizens and to other students who were resident in Switzerland or Liechtenstein when they obtained their university entrance qualification, plus EU/EFTA citizens who already hold a Swiss work-related residence permit before starting. Group 2, the threefold fee of CHF 2,190 a semester, applies to every other foreign student. On top of tuition, ETH charges a non-refundable CHF 150 application fee per degree programme applied for, payable by credit card, PostFinance, TWINT or Google Pay.
