Admission at a glance
BIUST admits undergraduates and postgraduates through online applications, and its site currently announces the next intake as August 2026. No closing date for the following intake is published. Non-resident applicants pay a non-refundable application fee of BWP 400, subject to annual review, and undergraduate non-residents who apply up to 14 days after applications close pay a late application fee of BWP 900. For postgraduate study the university says most courses do not have fixed application deadlines. International applicants whose qualifications were obtained in a non-English speaking country need an internet-based TOEFL score of 60 or an IELTS score of 5. Undergraduate tuition for students from outside SADC is charged at BWP 1,100 per credit, which comes to BWP 44,000 for a 40-credit academic year, compared with BWP 32,000 for citizens and SADC students. Non-resident tuition is BWP 23,000 for a master's degree in the sciences or engineering and BWP 16,000 for a PhD. The university states that it currently does not offer any scholarship, and the Botswana government sponsorship scheme described on its scholarship page is for citizens. International students also need a student permit to study in Botswana, and the university's international student pages list the documents required.
