Admission at a glance

African Leadership University admits undergraduates to its Rwanda campus in several intakes a year, and new students are admitted every term. Applications for the September 2026 intake closed on 31 July 2026, and applications for the January 2027 intake of the BSc in Entrepreneurial Leadership and the BSc in Software Engineering close on 30 November 2026. ALU does not charge any fee for applying and does not work with agents who ask for payment. Applicants need to have completed secondary education at A-level or equivalent and meet Rwanda's equivalence requirements for foreign qualifications; the International Business and Trade degree also sets a mathematics requirement. English proficiency must be at CEFR B2, shown for example by IELTS 6, TOEFL iBT 72, Duolingo 100, Pearson PTE 54 or 60 on the ALU English Proficiency Test. Applicants without a result can receive a conditional offer and upload their scores before matriculation. Total annual tuition is USD 3,000 for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Software Engineering and USD 4,000 for International Business and Trade; housing is not included, and housing fees are communicated after admission. Need-based ALU Grants reduce tuition as a fee waiver, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program has partnered with ALU since 2020, and the merit-based Mandela Scholarships cover tuition.
