Admission at a glance
Addis Ababa University admits foreign nationals to undergraduate and graduate programmes after their credentials are evaluated for equivalence by Ethiopia's Education and Training Authority. International applicants also provide two copies of their educational documents, two passport photographs and a letter from Ethiopia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs or their embassy, and pay an application fee of USD 40 for undergraduate or USD 150 for graduate programmes. Applicants take the university's own admission test, the Undergraduate Admission Test or the Graduate Admission Test, or may present standardised tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, ACT, SAT or LSAT with corresponding passing marks, but no minimum English score is published. For 2026/27, the Graduate Admission Test application period ran from 6 June to 11 August 2026, and a final round was reopened from 14 to 15 September 2026, with foreign applicants paying the equivalent of USD 50 for the test. Tuition is charged per ECTS credit: other international students pay USD 150 per ECTS for Medicine and health sciences, USD 90 for engineering and computer science and USD 60 for law, business and social sciences at undergraduate level.
