How to Apply to Universities in Mongolia (2027): Step by Step

Foreign students coming to study at a Mongolian higher education institution enter on an E2 visa requested by their university and must apply for an E2 residence permit within 21 days of entering the country; the permit is granted for up to one year and the standard state fee is MNT 45,000. At the National University of Mongolia, international bachelor's students pay MNT 409,000 a credit in 2026-2027, about MNT 12,270,000 a year.

Degree study in Mongolia

  1. Apply to the university in its application period (NUM: 1 May to 1 July for autumn, 1 October to 1 December for spring).
  2. The university requests your E2 visa from the Immigration Agency.
  3. Enter Mongolia and apply for an E2 residence permit within 21 days, with the admission order, study contract, tuition receipt, passport copies and address certificate.
  4. Pay the state fee (MNT 45,000 standard) and receive the permit, valid for up to one year.
