How to Apply to Universities in Luxembourg (2027): Step by Step
Luxembourg's national university charges international students the same low fee as everyone else, EUR 400 a semester on most bachelor's and master's programmes, with a few specialised masters costing up to EUR 2,500 a semester. There is one intake a year in September, applications for 2027-28 open on 1 February 2027, and non-EU applicants face a much earlier deadline than EU applicants. Students may work an average of 15 hours a week, and master's graduates can stay 12 months to look for work.

Apply as soon as the platform opens. Applications for 2027-28 open on 1 February 2027; in 2026 the non-EU window on most programmes closed on 24 March.
Pay the EUR 100 application fee for each application.
Apply for the temporary authorisation to stay from abroad, yourself or through the university; the ministry normally answers within 60 days.
Get a type D visa if your nationality needs one.
After arrival, declare your arrival at the commune within 3 days, have the medical check, and apply for the student residence permit within 3 months (EUR 80).
