Scholarships to Study in Denmark (2027)

Denmark splits admissions by level: bachelor applications go through the national optagelse.dk portal with a 15 March deadline for international applicants, while each university runs its own master's admissions, most closing around 15 January for non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss applicants. Tuition applies only to those applicants and is set by university and programme, commonly EUR 10,800 to 17,300 a year, and a residence permit for study through SIRI is required before arrival.

Each Danish university runs its own tuition fee waiver or scholarship scheme for admitted non-EU/EEA/Swiss students. DTU, for example, asks eligible master's applicants to submit a separate personal statement requesting a waiver alongside their application, with a limited number of merit based, two year awards decided after admission offers go out. Separately, Danish Government Scholarships under bilateral Cultural Agreements fund exchange students and young researchers studying Danish language and culture or related fields; these typically cover part of tuition and are administered by the individual university once the Danish Agency for Higher Education approves the exchange. Exact schemes, coverage and deadlines differ by university and are published on each institution's own scholarships or fees page.
