How to Apply to Universities in Croatia (2027): Step by Step

The University of Zagreb teaches Medicine, Dental Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in English along with a set of English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes, at 2026-27 fees from EUR 1,115 to EUR 7,500 a year outside the medical fields and EUR 10,000 to EUR 12,000 for them. A non-EU student gets a temporary stay for the purpose of studying, costing EUR 46.45, may work up to 25 hours a week under a May 2026 change to the law, and can stay up to a year after graduating to look for work.

English-taught study at the University of Zagreb

  1. Find the programme in the university's English programmes brochure and go to the faculty's own admission page; there is no central application.
  2. Check the faculty's deadlines and entrance exam. The School of Medicine runs several online entrance exams a year; in 2026 the last sitting was on 31 August, applied for by 20 August.
  3. Pay the faculty's application fee, for example EUR 300 at the School of Medicine.
  4. Prove English at the faculty's level, for example IELTS 6, TOEFL iBT 60 or Duolingo 105 for Medicine.
  5. Pay the first instalment to accept a place (EUR 2,500 at the School of Medicine).
  6. Apply for temporary stay for the purpose of studying at a Croatian embassy or consulate, with proof of means and health insurance.
