Requirements
Bachelor
A general university entrance qualification, either from Austria, Germany or South Tyrol, or an equivalent qualification earned abroad, assessed under BOKU's international-educational-background admission route for non-EU/non-EEA applicants. Language requirement (English or German, and any minimum test score) was not confirmed on the official pages reached in this pass; check the specific programme page before applying.
Master
A completed bachelor's degree recognised as giving entry to the field. BOKU runs a number of English-taught master's programmes; their specific English requirement was not confirmed on the pages reached in this pass.
PhD
A completed master's degree or equivalent and admission to a doctoral programme.
Documents
General university entrance qualification certificate (secondary school leaving certificate) or prior degree certificate, assessed under the Austrian/German/South Tyrol route or the international route depending on where it was earned. Passport copy. Language certificate where the programme requires one (specific minimum not confirmed in this pass).
How to apply
- Identify whether your qualification falls under the Austria/Germany/South Tyrol route or the international route.
- Apply within the non-EU/non-EEA window (1 March to 31 July for winter entry, 1 October to 31 December for summer entry) if you are a third-country national.
- Complete pre-registration once your application is processed.
- Complete in-person registration.
- Pay the ÖH union fee, and the tuition fee where it applies, each semester.
English test waiver
A test certificate must not be older than three years at the time of application. BOKU accepts three alternatives to a test score. The first is an Austrian or German school leaving examination (Reifeprüfung) taken with English as a written or oral examination subject. The second is a completed bachelor's programme of at least three years, or a master's programme of at least two years, taught entirely in English in an EU or EEA state, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, the United Kingdom or the United States. The institution must confirm in writing, with stamp and signature, that the whole programme was taught in English. Certificates for individual English taught courses, an exchange semester or a study visit to an English speaking country are explicitly not accepted.
