Requirements

Bachelor

Admission is based on grades in required senior secondary courses, which vary by program; Nursing and Education have higher English test requirements than the general minimum. There is no single published minimum average across all programs.

Graduate

Set by the individual graduate program; applicants should confirm requirements, references and, for research programs, a supervisor, on the specific program's page.

Documents

Official transcripts in required senior secondary subjects; English proficiency test results unless exempt; the non-refundable application fee (a higher rate applies to applicants with any international, as opposed to only Canadian, education).

How to apply

  1. Confirm your program's required courses and English test minimum.
  2. Apply directly online through the University of Calgary's own application, and pay the application fee (CAD 145 for applicants with international education).
  3. Arrange transcripts and English test scores to reach the university.
  4. Track your application and respond to document requests through your Student Centre.
  5. Accept an offer of admission once received.
  6. Apply for a study permit.

English test waiver

Nursing and Education programs require a higher IELTS score (7.0) than the general institutional minimum; a senior-level English course requirement for admission is separate from, and in addition to, the English proficiency test.
