Toronto Metropolitan University Admission Requirements 2027

Toronto Metropolitan University, known as TMU and formerly named Ryerson University, is a public university in downtown Toronto known for career-focused programs in media, business and engineering. Published international undergraduate tuition for 2026-2027 runs from about CAD 38,693 a year in Arts, Science and Community Services to about CAD 44,675 a year in the Ted Rogers School of Management and Engineering and Architectural Science.

Admission is based on the applicant's secondary school record in the courses required for the chosen program; specific prerequisites and competitive averages vary by program. There is no single published minimum average across all programs.

Graduate

Set by the individual graduate program; applicants should confirm requirements, references and, for research programs, a supervisor, on the specific program's page.

Documents

Official transcripts in required prerequisite courses; English proficiency test results, sent directly from the testing agency, unless exempt; a copy of the passport information page for the later study permit application; a portfolio, audition or supplementary application for programs that require one.

English test waiver

Engineering and Science programs, other than Computer Science and Architectural Science, accept a lower TOEFL iBT score of 83 instead of 92; both figures move to 4.5 on the new scale for tests taken on or after 21 January 2026. IELTS, PTE and Duoligo minimums are the same across all programs. Only official results sent directly from the testing agency are accepted.
