Nanjing University Admission 2027: Deadlines, Requirements, Fees for International Students

Nanjing University is a national comprehensive university in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, and one of the C9 League universities with a long history in the sciences and humanities. Its international undergraduate programme, run by the Institute for International Students, is taught almost entirely in Chinese: applicants need an HSK Level 5 certificate with a score of at least 180, alongside a high school graduation certificate and score report, two recommendation letters, a personal statement and, from the 2026-2027 admission cycle, a China Scholastic Competency Assessment report. The only exception is the English major, which instead asks for IELTS 5.5 or above or TOEFL 70 or above. Applicants to Architecture also submit a portfolio of professional work. The university's own published application period runs from March to May each year, with a specific deadline of 30 April for the main Fall semester intake and 30 October for the smaller Spring semester intake; admission notices follow between June and August, ahead of September registration. Tuition varies by discipline: 21,000 CNY a year for liberal arts programmes, 24,000 CNY a year for science and business programmes, 32,000 CNY a year for the Software Institute, and 42,000 CNY a year for the Medical School, plus a one time registration fee of 500 CNY for undergraduate and short term students.

Bachelor's degree

Applicants must be at least 18, hold a valid non-Chinese passport, be in good health, and hold a completed high school education or above. Almost all majors require an HSK Level 5 certificate with a score of at least 180; the English major instead requires IELTS 5.5 or above or TOEFL 70 or above. Architecture applicants also submit a portfolio of professional work.
