Memorial University of Newfoundland Admission Requirements 2027

Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), in St. John's, is Atlantic Canada's largest university and charges a single flat international undergraduate tuition rate rather than different rates by faculty. New international undergraduates starting in Fall 2026 or later pay CAD 22,500 a year on the St. John's campus, regardless of program.

Requirements

Bachelor

Admission is based on the applicant's secondary school record in the courses required for the chosen program; specific prerequisites and competitive averages vary by program, and the Bachelor of Engineering has additional English proficiency requirements. Official transcripts in required prerequisite courses; English proficiency test results unless exempt, with an IELTS Test Report Form sent for verification where applicable; a copy of the passport information page for the later study permit application.

English test waiver

Memorial also accepts the Michigan English Test (minimum 59) and CAEL (minimum 60). TOEFL iBT scores from tests taken on or after 21 January 2026 use a new scale, with a minimum of 4.5 overall and 4.0 in reading and writing. The Bachelor of Engineering sets additional English proficiency requirements, including an Engineering English Test, beyond general undergraduate admission.
