The University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship rewards new international students who hold a conditional or unconditional offer to start an undergraduate degree, postgraduate diploma or master's programme at the university. Rather than running an open call for applications, the university identifies eligible candidates based on their academic record and offer, and then invites those students to complete a supplementary application form; students do not need to separately search out or apply directly for this award from scratch. The scholarship is worth up to NZD 10,000, calculated as 25 percent of the value of one year's tuition fees, and is applied as a fee credit against the student's first semester of study. It is awarded twice a year, aligned with the university's two main intakes. For students starting in Semester 2, Quarter 3 or Quarter 4 in 2026, the relevant closing date was 1 April 2026; for students starting in Semester 1, Quarter 1 or Quarter 2 in 2027, the closing date is 21 October 2026. Because invitations depend on the applicant already holding an offer, prospective students should apply for admission to the University of Auckland well ahead of these dates so there is time to receive and respond to a scholarship invitation.
