Commonwealth Master's Scholarships 2026: Deadline, Eligibility, Benefits

Commonwealth Master's Scholarships are funded by the UK government through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for citizens of low and middle income Commonwealth countries who could not otherwise afford to study in the UK. Applicants need a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours, or a lower second-class degree together with a relevant postgraduate qualification, and must show they would not normally be able to fund the course themselves. The Commission has a preference for applicants who have not already completed a master's degree. The scholarship covers approved tuition fees in full, return economy airfare between the scholar's home country and the UK, a monthly stipend of GBP 1,712 (GBP 2,000 for universities in the London area), a study travel grant, and a child allowance of GBP 622 a month for the first child and GBP 154 a month for a second and third child under 16. Applications are not made directly to the CSC. Candidates must apply online through the CSC Central system and also secure a nomination from an approved national nominating agency, usually a government ministry, or from a small number of approved non-government nominating bodies, before the closing date.
