Scholarships to Study in Vietnam (2027)

Foreign students in Vietnam enter on a DH visa, which requires a written acceptance from a Vietnamese school and is valid for up to one year, and can then hold a DH temporary residence card valid for up to five years. Visa fees under the 2026 fee circular run from USD 25 for a single entry to USD 135 for a multiple-entry visa of up to one year. At VinUniversity in Hanoi, English-taught bachelor's programmes list VND 349,650,000 to VND 815,850,000 a year for 2026-27 before a 35% subsidy given to every student.

The Vietnamese Government grants scholarships to foreign students under international agreements. Under Circular 77/2026, in force from 1 September 2026, these students receive full tuition support up to the state tuition ceiling, a living allowance of VND 4,175,000 a month at bachelor's level and VND 4,955,000 for master's and doctoral study, VND 2,000,000 a month for housing, a one-time setup payment of VND 5,800,000 and state support for health insurance. Students from Laos and Cambodia sent under bilateral agreements are covered by separate rules. VinUniversity awards merit scholarships of 50% to 100% of tuition on top of its 35% subsidy, and need-based financial aid of up to 100% of tuition.
