Scholarships to Study in Turkey (2027) for International Students

Turkiye offers low cost, English and Turkish taught degrees at state and private foundation universities, with international undergraduate entry through a foreign student exam (YOS), the national TR-YOS, or accepted results such as SAT, GCE A Level or the International Baccalaureate. State tuition for international students is usually a few hundred to a few thousand US dollars a year; the private foundation universities charge far more. A student visa from a Turkish consulate, followed by a residence permit applied for after arrival, covers the length of study.

Turkiye Scholarships (Turkiye Burslari) is the national government scholarship programme, run jointly by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Higher Education. It is merit based and competitive, open to associate, bachelor's, master's and PhD applicants across a wide range of fields, and covers tuition, a monthly stipend, accommodation, health insurance, a Turkish language course and a return flight ticket for successful applicants, who are then placed at a Turkish university. Applications are free and submitted online. Individual universities, particularly the private foundation universities, also run their own merit scholarships for admitted students, commonly covering part or all of tuition.
