KAS International Scholarship Programme 2027: Deadline, Eligibility, Benefits

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, a foundation affiliated with Germany's Christian Democratic Union, runs an International Scholarship Programme for foreign students who identify with the foundation's values of democracy and human rights and who are already admitted to, or enrolled in, a degree programme at a German higher education institution. Master's applicants must be enrolling in a four-semester MA programme, and bachelor's applicants must have completed at least two semesters of their programme before applying. Beyond academic ability, the foundation weighs an applicant's socio-political engagement, such as volunteer work, and their genuine interest in political and societal issues, alongside above-average academic performance. German language proficiency of at least B2 level, verified through a Goethe-Institut or equivalent certificate, is a mandatory requirement, since much of the scholarship community's activity happens in German. Funding pays up to EUR 992 a month for bachelor's, master's and postgraduate students for a standard duration of up to two years, and up to EUR 1,400 a month for doctoral candidates for up to three years, with additional allowances of up to EUR 120 a month toward health insurance, a family allowance for a spouse living in Germany for at least three months, a child allowance, and, in exceptional cases, up to EUR 750 a semester toward tuition fees. The main domestic application deadline is 15 July each year at 12:00 noon Central European Time, though the foundation also runs region-specific selection procedures with earlier interview dates through its country offices, including in parts of Africa.
