European Commission (Erasmus+ Programme)

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are highly selective master's programmes taught jointly by a consortium of universities in at least two different countries taking part in the Erasmus+ programme, sometimes with additional partner universities elsewhere in the world. Students who are in the final year of a bachelor's degree may apply, provided they graduate before the joint master's begins, and the strongest ranked applicants from any country, including those from outside Europe, are offered a full scholarship. The scholarship waives all tuition and mandatory participation costs and pays a contribution calculated at EUR 1,400 a month for the length of the programme, normally up to 24 months, for a maximum of around EUR 33,600. Part of this amount can be paid instead as a one-off travel and installation contribution, which adjusts the regular monthly payment. Health insurance is also arranged for scholarship holders. There is no single application or deadline for all Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters: each of the more than 100 joint programmes recruits and funds its own students, usually opening applications between October and February for a course starting the following September, so applicants apply directly to the specific joint master's programme through the Erasmus Mundus catalogue.
