Patuakhali Science and Technology University briefly PSTU is a general category Science and Technology-based university in Bangladesh established on 8 July 2000. It is one of the fastest-growing new universities that 16th public and 4th Science and Technology university in the country.
The mission of PSTU is to provide cutting-edge education, research, training, and develop entrepreneurship. PSTU also desires to be a home of excellence for producing competent professionals with improved knowledge and skills to meet national and global challenges.
The whole campus of the university is surrounded by the traditional artistic radiant and vibrant green texture of Bangladesh. The whole entire campus is covered with densely natural wild plants, medicinal plants, and fruit-bearing trees. Thousands of students around and beyond the country come here to take higher and quality education from the university.

Patuakhali Science and Technology University is mainly the upgrade formation of the higher secondary institute privately published in 1972. Then it was turned into Patuakhali Agricultural College in 1979 under the affiliated of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, to provide a BSc.Ag. (Hons.) degree.
On 1 February 1985, the college was nationalized under the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). Finally, the institute was inaugurated by the then Honorable Prime Minister on 08 July 2000 and started its academic activities on 26 February 2002.
PSTU has two locations, the main campus and the external campus.
Main campus:
The main campus of PSTU is 15 km from Patuakhali district town, 27 km to the north, and Barisal divisional town. 5 km south of Barisal-Patuakhali highway from Lebukhali. The university’s main campus is located in the heart of Dumki Upazila of Patuakhali district in the east. The total area of this campus is 6.00 acres.
External Campus
The outer campus is at Khanpura, Babuganj, in the Barisal district. The total area of this campus is 12.98 acres.

Patuakhali Science and Technology University also has a central library situated in a separate four-storied building on the northern side of the main campus.
The Library provides access to information resources and services to the university communities of PSTU for teaching, learning, and research purposes in agricultural-related information, management, and modern science & technology.
The Library has developed an excellent collection of books, e-books, journals, CD-DVD ROM, and non-book material in different Agriculture sectors.
PSTU offers eight residential halls for the students. As university students come here from across the country and from overseas and for enduring their study-friendly environment, PSTU has set up all these residential halls.
