Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Kishoreganj, is a public university financed by the government of Bangladesh. The university is located in Kishoreganj, named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Gradually the university has been improving in all stages to fill up the mission of providing undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels of education and research that create knowledge, excellence, and distribution in science, engineering, arts, humanities, social sciences, law, business administration, and management, including new branches of science and knowledge.

BSMRSTU Establishment Background

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Kishoreganj, is the outcome of the earnest initiatives of Advocate Md. Abdul Hamid, the president of the People’s Republic Of Bangladesh.

First, the bill of establishing the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Kishoreganj, is raised on the parliament (Act No. 17 of 2020, September 15, 2020) and passed by the parliament 2020. Finally, the university has been established.

Firstly, the university was established at the Boulai Union of Sadar Upazila of Kishoreganj District. Later, it was placed on 103.87 acres of land at Patdha and Raghunandanpur Mouzas of Boulai union under Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila of Kishoreganj District, that 9.8 KM away from the Kishoreganj city.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University, Kishoreganj is located at Patdha and Raghunandanpur Mouzas of Boulai union under Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila of Kishoreganj District, approximately 8.9 km away from Kishoreganj city towards Mithamoin road. The whole campus covers 103.87 acres of pictorial land.

BSMRSTU Academic Body

BSMRU is a newly established university, and the university has initiated its operation first in the academic session 2021-2022 with four departments Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics, English, and Accounting.

There were thirty students in each department then. But right now, the university operates 40 departments under 6 faculties and 6 institutes, and 3 centers.
